The location: The taverna is situated near the rim of an ancient volcano at the top of which is the old town of Plaka. By car one follows the main road up through Triovassalos to a 'T' junction with the Museum directly ahead. The sign indicates Tripiti to the left but we turn right towards the Plaka. After a sharp left-hand bend and as the road climbs one will see the delightful taverna on the left. There is car parking just before or 25 metres after Chez Adonis.
Your host: You cannot miss Adonis. He is always accompanied by his little dog "Leo" and all day long Adonis will be smoking his old black pipe. He speaks several languages some, including English, to converse in and others sufficient to understand orders from the menu. Adonis cooks most of the dishes himself but at weekends and busy periods he is assisted by his wife In the evenings there is a very relaxed atmosphere with typical island dancing and singing through to the early hours. Adonis's bouzouki is never far from his hand.
House specialities: At "Chez Adonis" you can eat all that the island of Milos has to offer, and more. Adonis cooks from old traditional recipes that he learned from his Grandmother which will probably be unfamiliar to the majority of visitors. It is truly the taverna to discover gastronomique delights. For an example, instead of stuffing vine leaves with rice, Adonis uses a very tasty meat filling with local herbs. So much more succulent! Unfortunately it is impossible to list here all the enjoyable dishes that Adonis can make for you. The taverna is open all year round and makes an ideal rendezvous off-season.
